Plays A nanny spends time playing with the children she cares for.
She helps them have fun. She teaches them to share and to be considerate of
others. She thinks of creative ways to play, both indoors and outdoors.

 |
Cooks A nanny prepares meals for the children. She needs to know how to cook
nutritious meals that also taste good. She needs to be sensitive to what the children like and
don't like. |
Feeds A nanny feeds the younger children while serving and monitoring
the older children as they eat. With babies, she does most of the work. With toddlers, she lets
them feed themselves while she controls the mess they're making. |
 |
 |
Does light housecleaning A nanny usually does light housecleaning. This includes
chores directly related to the care of the children. Usually this means preparing and cleaning
up the children's meals, doing the children's laundry, and keeping their bedrooms and play areas
straightened up. |
Drives You will find that the children you care for live pretty busy lives.
They have play dates, dance lessons, piano lessons, soccer practice, Hebrew, Catechism, doctor's
appointments, and the list goes on. On some days, a nanny will do so much driving she will feel
like a chauffeur. She needs to be a safe driver, cautious, attentive, and she must make sure that
seat belts and restraints are always used. |

Coaches Children are always learning new skills, for school, for sports, for church,
and for life in general. A good nanny is a good coach, teaching children the skills and the behaviors
they need to succeed and to have fun. |
Plays dress-up There are times when children just want to imagine
and pretend. She may want to be a pirate, or an Indian, or a princess. A good nanny understands
and knows how to pretend herself. |
 |
 |
Relaxes Ok, maybe not a lot - but there are some moments when a nanny
just relaxes and hangs out with the children. These can become very special times for the children
and the nanny herself. |
Is a Friend

It's all about love and about being a friend. It's about caring and being there for the children.
It's about seeing their faces brighten up when you walk into the room. It's about letting them
know that they can trust you because you really truly love them.
