Although we will not discriminate on the basis of religious affiliation, we do actively recruit religious nannies. We place a premium on nannies who are seen by their references as morally grounded, who reflect high standards of personal and social integrity, and whose day to day behavior is consistent with their professed beliefs. We also are concerned about the difficulties nannies have coming from other parts of the country to the East Coast and having to establish a new social life for themselves. Our experience indicates that the primary way nannies go about making new friends is through their religious community. In short, young women who have a strong affiliation with a religious community have a potential advantage in making friends and establishing a social life away from the job - something that we consider critical for success.
Consequently we recruit at a number of colleges and universities in the Western States that are affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church and a number of Protestant Denominations (including Baptist, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, and Congregational). We have included links to websites associated with the Roman Catholic Church and the Episcopal Church. Because we recruit at colleges associated with the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, we have included a link to their web site. Also, since a large number of nannies we represent from the West are Mormon (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) and the Mormon faith is less well known in the East than many other Christian faiths are, we have included a link to their web site as well. The inclusion of links to other web sites by TSN does not in any way indicate an endorsement of TSN by those organizations.
